Satria Kumbara Former Indonesian Navy Officer, Asks President Prabowo Subianto to Terminate His Contract With the Russian Ministry of Defense

Satria Arta Kumbara, a former Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) soldier with the last rank of Second Sergeant (Serda), has come under scrutiny after being dismissed from the Marine Corps Inspectorate (Itkomar).

The reason is that Satria Arta Kumbara is now known to have participated in Russian military operations and frequently shares videos on social media platform TikTok via the account @zstorm689.

Initially, no one knew the name Satria Arta Kumbara, who went viral for participating in military operations alongside Russian troops.

However, when the TikTok account @zstrom689 shared a video showing two photos of the same man, but in each photo wearing different uniforms—one TNI AL and one Russian military—this drew attention.

After the video spread widely, the Indonesian Navy confirmed that Satria Arta Kumbara was formerly a member of the Indonesian military.

Satria is reported to have deserted or fled military service since June 13, 2022, until the present.

Therefore, Military Court II-08 has imposed a sentence based on Case Decision Number 56-K/PM. II-08/AL/IV/2023 dated April 6, 2023, and the Final Judgment No. AMKHT/56-K/PM.II-08/AL/IV/2023 dated April 17, 2023.

The Head of the Indonesian Navy's Public Relations Department, Rear Admiral I Made Wira Hadi, stated that the dismissal was carried out based on the in absentia decision (a decision made in the absence of the defendant) of the Military Court (Dilmil) II-08 Jakarta on April 6, 2023.

“In the decision, the individual was sentenced to one year in prison, with an additional penalty of dismissal,” said Rear Admiral Wira.

After going viral for participating in a Russian military operation, Satria Arta Kumbara admitted that he was unaware that signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense would result in the revocation of his citizenship.

As reported by Time Moments from a video posted on the TikTok account @zstrom689 on July 20, 2025, Satria Arta Kumbara expressed his desire to regain his Indonesian citizenship.

In the video, he appealed to Foreign Minister Sugiono, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and President Prabowo Subianto to reinstate his Indonesian citizenship.

"I sincerely apologize if my ignorance led to the revocation of my citizenship after signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Please grant me permission, sir. I have never betrayed the country at all, as my intention was to come here solely to earn a living," he said in the video.

"I bid farewell to my mother, washed my feet, sought her blessings, and departed for here.

The revocation of my citizenship does not compare to what I have received.

Please grant me permission, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, Mr. Gibran, Mr. Sugiono, please grant me your kindness to help terminate my contract and restore my citizenship rights so I can return to Indonesia.

Please grant me permission, as the only one who can terminate my contract at this time is Mr. Prabowo at the Russian Ministry of Defense, addressing Mr. Vladimir Putin, and with the help of Allah," said Satria.

“Honestly, I do not want to lose my citizenship, because Indonesian citizenship is everything to me and its value is immeasurable,” he added.
