Indonesia's New Warship Fleet Shows Off Strength in the Mediterranean Sea

Indonesian Warships KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda and KRI Brawijaya

TIMEMOMENTS.COM - Upon closer inspection, Indonesia's warship fleet is beginning to show the sharp teeth of its combat capabilities.

This is evident from the recent meeting of two Indonesian warships, the KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda and its newest frigate, the KRI Brawijaya, in the Mediterranean Sea.

It is worth noting that the KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda is currently deployed with the Indonesian Navy's Maritime Task Force (MTF) Konga XXVIII-P/UNIFIL.

Its primary mission is to maintain peace under the UN flag in the Mediterranean Sea.

Meanwhile, the KRI Brawijaya is on its way from La Spezia, Italy, to Indonesia.

According to the TikTok account @b.iskan.f on August 2, 2025, the two Indonesian warships met and conducted exercises in the Mediterranean Sea.

In a short video, an AS565 Panther helicopter from the KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda lands on the helipad deck of the KRI Brawijaya.

Crew members from both KRI ships are also seen exchanging salutes.

It is worth noting that the KRI Brawijaya is the latest combat vessel of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL).

It is one of two corvette warships of the Pattugliatori Polivalenti d'Altura (PPA) class, built by Fincantieri in Italy.

KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda is one of the Diponegoro-class SIGMA 9113 vessels purchased from the Dutch shipyard DSNS.

Meanwhile, at its domestic shipyard, Indonesia is currently completing two warships named the Red and White Frigates, which utilize the Babcock Arrowhead 140 design.***
